The Gut-Lung Axis: The Role of the Oral, GI, and Pulmonary Microbiomes in Respiratory Health

The microbiome plays an important role in gastrointestinal health, but did you know it also influences pulmonary health?  During this discussion, you will learn about the influence of the GI microbiome on the development of systemic immunity, including the lungs.  Dr. Strand will also discuss the relevance of the oral microbiome and the interplay between the mouth, lungs and GI tract.  Practitioners will leave with easy to apply clinical tools for balancing microbial balance in the mouth and gut, thereby supporting respiratory health.


Get To Know Jocelyn Strand, ND

Dr. Jocelyn Strand graduated from Bastyr University in 2005 with a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. Following her graduation, she established her practice in the Seattle area, working at Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, as well as in a gastrointestinal specialty clinic. She returned to Minnesota in 2008 with the vision of increasing the availability, affordability, and awareness of naturopathic medicine. With that vision in mind, she opened her private practice at Lake Superior Natural Medicine, where she specialized in GI system disorders, Lyme disease, and auto-immune conditions as a Primary Care Provider through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.

In 2019, Dr. Strand became the Director of Clinical Education for Bio-Botanical Research, Inc., She enjoys sharing useful clinical information based on research and her own personal experience in the talks she gives at events around the world.
